Abducted corps members regain freedom after days in captivity

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State have regained their freedom after spending days in captivity.
The victims were abducted on Thursday while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to orientation camps in the South-East and South-South.
The victims were travelling along the Owerri-Onitsha Road near Umunoha in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State when their buses were attacked by suspected gunmen at about 6:30 a.m.
The victims were reportedly released on Wednesday, although details of their release remain unclear as of press time.
When Peoples Gazette contacted the state police spokesperson, Okoye Henry, he said the command would soon issue a statement.
“Hold on, we will issue a statement,” he said and ended the call.
