‘A Tribe Called Judah’ first Nollywood movie to earn N1 billion: Filmone

Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele’s movie ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has been announced as the first Nollywood movie to earn N1 billion.
The announcement was on the Filmone Entertainment official Instagram page @filmoneng on Thursday, followed by congratulatory messages to Funke and the cast and crew members.
A picture of Funke and some cast members is displayed on the Instagram page, with the movie title boldly written.
“A momentous achievement unfolds as #ATribeCalledJudah etches its name in the annals of Nollywood glory,” said the Instagram post. “This cinematic masterpiece has not only captured hearts but shattered records, becoming the FIRST Nollywood movie to soar past the 1 Billion Naira milestone at the box office.”
The movie was also praised for its captivating storytelling, cultural pride, and the unyielding spirit of Nollywood as it resonated deeply with audiences nationwide.
The movie was released on December 15, 2023, directed by Funke and co-produced by her and Adeoluwa Owu.
This is not the actress’s only successful movie. She has also enjoyed success in other films like ‘Battle on Buka Street’ raking in N668 million, and ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ which grossed N636 million.
