40-year-old man remanded over alleged defilement of 15-year-old girl

An Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered the remand of a 40-year-old man, Lekan Adebeshin, in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 15- year-old girl.
Adebeshin, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on felony to wit defilement, unlawful deal and threat to life.
The Chief Magistrate, B.A. Sonuga did not take the defendant’s plea.
He remanded the defendant in a correctional facility and ordered that the case file be sent to the Office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Mr Sonuga adjourned the case until September 18 for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Aug. 10 at No 11, Ojomo Amoka St, Oju-Oro in the Agric area of Ikorodu.
The prosecutor said that the defendant allegedly unlawfully and indecently dealt with her by touching her breast and buttock.
The prosecutor added that the defendant, at the same time and date, also threatened to kill the 15-year-old minor if she informed anyone that he had sex with her.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 137, 135(1) and 56(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
