29-year-old arraigned for stealing palm oil in Lagos

On Thursday, the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, remanded a 29-year-old man, Arikpo Ikpi, in Kirikiri prison custody for stealing 830kg of palm oil.
Magistrate A.O. Ogbe remanded Mr Ikpi after pleading guilty to a charge of stealing.
Mr Ogbe adjourned the case until January 18 to review the facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 25, 2023, at PZ Cussons, Odogunyan, Ikorodu.
Mr Famuyiwa said the defendant stole palm oil valued at N954,000, belonging to Trucksoft Logistics Ltd.
He said that the defendant was caught by security guards, who handed him over to the police.
Mr Famuyiwa said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
