22 suspected cultists arraigned, remanded in Delta

The police command in Delta State says it has arrested 22 suspected cultists in separate operations in Eku and Owhelogbo communities.
In a statement on Friday, Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesperson, said 15 suspects were arrested in Eku Community and taken into custody by operatives of the command’s Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Sector 2, Ozoro.
He said the suspects were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Warri last Friday.
Mr Edafe said another seven suspects arrested in Owhelogbo Community by operatives of the unit were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court.
“The suspects were charged with offences bordering on conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society, specifically the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, otherwise known as ‘Arobag’,” he said.
He stated that the respective courts subsequently ordered that the suspects be remanded in correctional custody pending further proceedings.
Among those arraigned were Best Enarisa, 45; Alex David, 33; Precious Onokponu, 30; Joel Odafe, 19; Zino Oghene, 33; Oghenero Gabriel, 35; and Ofego Omaoke, 25, alongside other suspects.
