2,147 motorists nabbed for traffic violations in Edo in January: FRSC

The Edo sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrested 2,147 motorists in January for traffic offences.
The sector commander, Paul Okpe, gave the figure in an interview with journalists in Benin on Wednesday.
He said that the motorists were arrested in various parts of the state.
He said, “The 2,147 offenders were arraigned in a mobile court and fined accordingly by the court for various offences.”
He said that the motorists were arrested at New Benin, Oluko, Sapele Road, Tollgate, Auchi, Ekpoma and some other areas.
Mr Okpe listed the offences to include dangerous driving, overloading, route violation, excessive speeding, use of phones while driving, seatbelt violation, and driving without a fire extinguisher.
He advised road users in the state to obey traffic rules and regulations for safety.
