The police command in Nasarawa says it has arrested a 21-year-old for chopping off a man’s hand in a brawl over a girlfriend.
Police spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated in Lafia that the suspect, Usman Danladi, aka ‘Murderer’, was arrested on Saturday at Auta Baleifi in the Karu local government area of the state.
Mr Danladi was arrested for chopping off the wrist of Jibrin Abdullahi on Friday using a machete.
Mr Nansel added that the suspect confessed to the crime and said he cut off Mr Abdullahi’s hand for assaulting his girlfriend.
Mr Danladi told the police that he accosted Mr Abdullahi for assaulting his girlfriend, and a brawl ensued during which he dealt the victim the machete blow to his hand.
Meanwhile, police commissioner Adesina Soyemi in Nasarawa has directed that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
