2023: Ex-Reps speaker Dimeji Bankole joins presidential race

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has joined the race towards 2023 presidential elections.
Abdullahi Bayero, a close ally of the ex-lawmaker, confirmed to The Nation that Mr Bankole will buy nomination forms under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming week.
“Right Honourable Dimeji Bankole is in the race and he is contesting on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),” said Mr Bayero.
“He has met with various stakeholders and their support is overwhelming, especially across the North. So, he is set to buy the APC nomination form next week.”
Mr Bankole became speaker at 37, the youngest in the history of the House of Representatives.
He failed to win reelection in 2011 to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency under Peoples Democratic Party.
