20-year-old charged with theft of Samsung Galaxy worth N1.58 million

The police in Lagos State on Wednesday brought a 22-year-old man, Safiu Mohammed, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for alleged stealing Samsung Galaxy X23 Ultra.
Mohammed appeared before Magistrate L.K.J Layeni, on a count charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 14 at Abule Osun in Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant stole the phone from one Oyebanji Sadiq.
The phone is said to be worth N1.58 million.
The alleged offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Mr Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until January 8, 2025, for mention.
