148 suspected Adamawa criminals nabbed, prosecuted in four months: Police

The police command in Adamawa State said it arrested and prosecuted about 148 suspected criminals for various crimes from January till date.
The command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Yola.
Mr Nguroje said that suspects were arrested and prosecuted for crimes ranging from kidnapping, rape, culpable homicide to robbery.
He said exhibits including three stolen vehicles which had been handed over to the rightful owners, AK-47 rifles and 20 locally fabricated rifles were recovered within the period under review.
He said other exhibits include 110 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition and improvised explosive devices.
He also said that within the period under review, six kidnapped victims were rescued in collaboration with sister security agencies.
According to him, the success recorded was because of compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, which aimed at minimising crimes in the country.
He said. “This strategic move has yielded significant outcome that has resulted in the arrest of numerous suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape among others, as well as the recovery of arms and ammunition.
He quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo as commending the gallant officers and men involved in the successful operations.
Mr Dankombo also assured the public that the command would spare no effort in ensuring the safety and security of all residents in state.
He noted that security was everyone responsibility and called on the residents to provide useful information to the police to help in the fight against insecurity in the state.
