13 die in Peru tourist plane crash

At least 13 people were killed after a small tourist plane crashed in Peru, with all those on board feared dead.
The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. local time in the Pueblo Viejo area after the aircraft departed from an airport in Pisco, Peru.
The Cessna Caravan C-208 was on a sightseeing flight over the Nazca Lines archaeological site when it crashed on Saturday. There were 11 passengers and two pilots on board.
The passengers included two Germans, two Spaniards and seven Italians, according to Peru’s state news agency. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“Given the severity of the accident, there are no survivors. We have recovered four bodies so far,” Police Major Jorge Andrade said.
In a statement posted in Spanish on social media, the Municipalidad Provincial de Nasca expressed, “deep sorrow” for the accident and extended “heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased”.
The statement said the aircraft belonged to the local Peruvian airline Aerodiana.
In a statement, the airline said it would “assess its flight schedule in accordance with the directives of the relevant authorities”.
