110 Borno students, businesspeople evacuated from Sudan

Borno students and businesspeople evacuated from Sudan along with other Nigerians have arrived in Maiduguri.
They arrived in Maiduguri from Abuja in two chartered planes by the Borno government.
The secretary to the state government, Jidda Shuwa, sympathised with the evacuees over the hardship experienced in Sudan.
Mr Shuwa disclosed that Governor Babagana Zulum constituted a high-powered committee to collaborate with the federal government to ensure their safety and evacuation.
The higher education commissioner, Babagana Malumbe, who led the committee, said the Borno government sponsored the evacuation of 110 of its citizens, comprising 56 students from Khartoum to Egypt, where the federal government airlifted them to Abuja.
“We also paid for their hotels in Abuja on arrival and chartered two planes to bring them to Maiduguri,” Mr Malumbe said.
