Two million Ukrainian refugees in EU within 48 hours: UN

The United Nations has said that the number of refugees from Ukraine seeking shelter in the European Union will reach the “frightening” figure of two million within two days.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, disclosed this on Tuesday.
“I think that today or tomorrow at the latest, we will reach the frightening figure of two million refugees from Ukraine crossing the borders of neighbouring countries,” he said.
Mr Grandi added that the UN was recording flows of “frightened” Ukrainians trying to flee battlegrounds and take refuge.
Earlier in the day, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s office said 1.2 million refugees from Ukraine had crossed Poland’s border so far.
On Monday, EU Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell, said the European Union had already hosted 1.5 million refugees from Ukraine and expected up to five million refugees in total.
