Two killed, vehicles razed as herdsmen attack Amotekun in Ondo

There were reports of a violent clash between the Western Nigeria Security Network, code-named Amotekun, and herdsmen in Ago Sanusi, Owo Local Government, Ondo State, on Wednesday.
A source told Peoples Gazette that a farmer was abducted by herdsmen earlier this week and Amotekun operatives went into the community on Wednesday to investigate but were attacked by herdsmen.
Oluyemi Fashina, a youth advocate, told the Gazette, “The information that we had was that Amotekun was attacked in the community; a vigilante’s hands were chopped off, and a farmer was shot in the head. Amotekun’s vehicles were also burnt at the scene.”
The vigilante, whose hands were chopped off, later died, the Gazette learnt.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Ondo Amotekun were unsuccessful.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman for the police command in Ondo, Tee-Leo Ikoro, did not respond to the Gazette’s inquiry but told its reporter, “See me in my office.”
