Truck crushed dispatch rider, passenger to death in Lagos: Taskforce

A dispatch rider on Tuesday was confirmed dead in an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck at Eleganza bus-stop, close to the Lekki Conservative axis, Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.
The dispatch rider and passenger were crushed to death by an unidentified truck driver, who is presently on the run.
Following the incident that happened on Tuesday afternoon, other motorcyclists within the area set the truck on fire.
The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) confirmed the accident.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the agency said the accident occurred after a speeding vehicle hit the motorcycle, slamming the rider and passenger into the oncoming truck.
The agency said they arrested many of the protesters and normalcy has since returned to the area.
“Other motorcyclists who witnessed the accident set the tipper ablaze and bonfire on the road.
“Police have made significant arrests with many bikes impounded while the road has been cleared,” the statement reads.
The statement added that “The area is calm now and policemen are controlling the traffic inward and outward Ajah.”
The Taskforce Area Commander, RRS Commander, Chairman Lagos Taskforce, and DPOs of stations in the area, were said to have been there to maintain peace.
