Troops rescue 4 kidnap victims, kill scores of bandits in Kaduna raid: Official

Troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted a group of fleeing bandits, killed many and rescued four kidnapped victims from the brigands, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs said on Wednesday.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna, Mr. Aruwan disclosed that the operation was executed by troops of 2 Battalion at Ungwan Danko village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the State.
Several bandits escaped with gunshots wounds during a gun battle as troops recovered one AK 47 service rifle and rounds of ammunition, he said.
Mr. Aruwan disclosed that the bandits had earlier invaded the village, abducted four villagers- one woman and three children.
The brigands met their Waterloo when they attempted to retreat from the village shortly after they attacked.
“However, the troops mobilized to the location, laid ambush and intercepted the bandits, cutting off their escape,” Mr. Aruwan said.
“In the ensuing firefight, several bandits were neutralized, and others escaped with bullet wounds. One AK47 rifle and some rounds of ammunition were recovered. Three blurred images of bandits neutralised are attached to this statement.” the commissioner stated.
The onslaught of banditry and kidnapping activities has led to the deaths of many citizens across the state.
Most of the communities in Birnin Gwari have been ravaged by the armed depriving thousands of residents a means of livelihoods.
