Tokyo Olympics: Blessing Oborodudu takes first silver for Nigeria

Nigeria’s Blessing Oborodudu has won the first silver for Nigeria. She came second behind the United States in women’s freestyle (68kg) wrestling, losing 4-1.
The medal was the second for Nigeria in the ongoing tournament in Tokyo, Japan, and the first silver. Nigeria’s Ese Brume won the first medal, a bronze, in the women’s long jump yesterday and was decorated today.
She went into the match today looking to earn Nigeria’s first gold medal since the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The silver medal Oborodudu won is Nigeria’s highest-ranked medal since the 2008 Beijing Olympics where we won the silver in Women’s Long Jump, Women’s 4x100m and Football.
Tamyra Mensah of the U.S. came first in the women’s freestyle (68), winning gold ahead of Nigeria’s Oborodudu. Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan came third with a bronze.
Ese Brume won the first medal, a bronze, for Nigeria in the women’s long jump yesterday and was decorated today.
