Spain proposes shutting European ports to Russian vessels: Foreign Minister

Spain is proposing to the European Union’s member countries to close European ports for Russian ships, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said on Monday.
“Regarding the issue of ports and seas yesterday, I proposed on behalf of Spain and there were many countries that supported me, I hope that this measure will be adopted in the coming days.
“In addition to closing the European air space for Russian flights, it was also proposed to close the ports of Europe.”
Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda confirmed that the country intended to further sanction Moscow by closing its ports to all Russian vessels.
Western nations had rolled out a sanction campaign against Russia after it granted independence to separatist regions and invaded Ukraine last Thursday.
