Sani Usman named new chess federation president

Sani Usman, a frontline member of the chess family, on Thursday in Abuja, became the new president of the Nigeria Chess Federation.
In the election held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Mr Usman emerged unopposed.
For the post of vice-president, two candidates — Yinka Samuel and Austin Apemiye —— emerged, with Samuel scoring nine voters while his opponent had three votes.
Mr Usman, while speaking later, said the new board would continue to work from where the immediate-past board stopped to enhance the development of the sport.
“Nigerians expect greater collaboration, and we will continue from where we stopped, especially as our predecessors have been excellent,” he said.
