Report officers asking for vehicles tinted glasses permit: Police

Spokesman for the Nigerian Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, has tasked Nigerians to report officers who demand permits for tinted vehicles glasses to the Force Headquarters.
Mr Adejobi in a thread of tweets on Sunday, furnished nigerians with the documents that should be tendered at any police checkpoint.
Emphasising that “vehicle licence, driver’s licence and certificate of insurance” were the only documents required from a car owner by any officer, Mr Adejobi clearly stated that the police force had no jurisdiction to demand for other documents such as custom papers, allocation of number papers and so on.
“No police man should demand your customs papers. No. Except they are on joint operation, but not just on mere routine checks,” tweeted the acting force spokesman.
On the issue of tinted glasses, Mr Adejobi stressed that officers could do a quick stop and search of the vehicle and its occupants without ado.
“We are to stop any vehicle with tints, search d vehicles, and its occupants, but not to delay him for not having tinted glass permits. Report them if u are so delayed so that we ask them questions.”
Mr Adejobi further explained that issuance of tinted glass permits has been suspended, hence citizens are not to be harassed by the force personnel.
“And for now, we have suspended issuance of tinted glass permit, so we don’t expect our men to disturb Nigerians on this.”
He tasked Nigerians to report deviant officers by calling 08057000001 and 08057000002 and directing whatsApp/text messages to 08057000003 while email complaints should be directed to policepcrru@gmail.com.
“Any policeman demanding for more; it’s a deviant (act) and he must be dealt with. If not, many Nigerians will suffer from him and his likes,” adding that “Don’t die in silence, speak out to save yourself and others,” stressed Mr Adejobi.
