Redeemed senior pastor shot dead on altar

A senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, King of Kings parish in Ketu, Bolanle Ibrahim, has been shot dead on the altar while praying for congregants.
The gunmen invaded the church premises located at Maidan in Ikosi Ketu local government while the deceased was praying during a child dedication.
After confirming Mr Ibrahim’s identity with a picture, the assailants attempted to drag him out of the church but were stopped by a senior pastor who was injured for questioning them before Mr Ibrahim was shot on the altar.
Mr Ibrahim’s sister, Justina Alebiosu, told New Telegraph that she suspected Mr Ibrahim had a business deal with people who might want him dead.
”My thinking is that my brother had a business transaction with someone,” she said.
Following the assassination, the deceased’s wife, Kudirat Ibrahim, refuted the notion that her late husband was a cultist claiming that he was fasting the day he was murdered in the church.
The spokesperson for the police command in Lagos, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killing.
He disclosed that police commissioner Hakeem Odumosu had directed the tactical commanders to handle the matter.
”We are investigating the case because we have a clue into the killing. We will unravel the case,” Mr Adejobi said.
The authorities of the Redeemed Christian Church of God declined to speak with Peoples Gazette on the matter, requesting one of its reporters to visit the RCCG camp on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway for further information.
