Police nab armed robber with local pistol in Ogun

The Police in Ogun State arrested a robbery suspect on October 1, while robbing residents of Silva Estate at the Odomalasa area of Ilese-Ijebu.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement issued in Ota that the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the police at about 12.30 midnight.
“Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ilese Ijebu, CSP Amuda Bolaji, mobilised a patrol team to the scene,” the police spokesperson said.
He said on sighting the police, the robbers ran. One was arrested with the assistance of members of the community, while others are still at large.
One locally-made gun with one live cartridge was recovered from the arrested suspect.
The acting state commissioner of police, Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered the suspect to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
A manhunt is underway for the fleeing members of the gang to bring them to justice.
