Oluwabamise’s death: BRT suspends operations across Lagos metropolis

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Tuesday suspended its operations across Lagos metropolis.
This follows the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwola, who was allegedly abducted by a BRT driver, Nice Andrew Omininikoron,and others, after she boarded a BRT on February 26.
Several passengers were left stranded on Tuesday morning at the various BRT terminals across the state.
Peoples Gazette had earlier reported that Ms Ayanwola went missing for days after boarding a BRT.
She was found dead at the Carter Bridge at Ogogoro Community, Lagos, with her body mutilated.
The bus driver, Mr Omininikoron, suspected of kidnapping the victim, was arrested on Monday.
The driver was arrested at his hiding place at Ososa, Ogun, by the SSS. He would later claim not to have abducted and murdered the Ms Ayanwola.
The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has promised the Ayanwonla family that they will get the justice they deserve.
The spokesperson of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Kolawole Ojelabi, said he will respond later when contacted by The Gazette.
As at the time of filing this report he was yet to respond. Meanwhile the Lagos State Bus Service Limited did not respond to messages and call from the Gazette.
