NNL: Ihezuorochi scores brace as City FC beat Oyah

Emmanuel Ihezuorochi scored another brace on Sunday to take his goals tally to six as the City Football Club of Abuja beat Oyah Sports International FC 3-0.
Ihezuorochi scored in a Group A1 Match Day 3 fixture in the ongoing 2021/2022 Nigeria National League (NNL).
In the match played at the Area 10 pitch in Abuja, City FC scored from a superb strike in the 44th minute through Ekene Osigwe.
He headed in from a corner kick by Simon Omon. Sixteen minutes into the second half, Ihezuorochi scored from a penalty kick awarded to City FC.
In the second minute of three minutes of added time, the 20-year-old utilised Nasir Umar’s assist to score and make it his sixth goal of the season.
Ihezuorochi scored his third consecutive brace in his club’s three league matches so far.
City FC are now leading their group with nine points from three wins in three matches, two points ahead of ABS FC of Ilorin, which beat Zamfara United 4-0 on Saturday.
Speaking after the match, the coach of City FC, Sunday Okoachadu, said his team was outstanding.
“My players performed very well, and I am very happy for today’s victory. Also, I thank God for the success achieved in the league so far. I believe the race in this league is going to be a race we will finish well, and I believe my team will finish among the best for the Super Eight,” he explained. “In that final race, only one club can pick the premier league ticket, and I hope my team will.”
On their next match away against EFCC FC, he said, “The spirit that made us win this match today is the same we are going to utilise to play against EFCC FC on Saturday, and I believe victory will be ours.”
On his part, Oyah coach Abdulrazak Ekpoki said it was disappointing losing the match.
“Our first game was against Family Worship Centre (FWC) Champions, and it was postponed. Then we lost our second game against Yobe Desert Stars 0-2. But I am not discouraged. Rather, I am very encouraged by what I am seeing,” added Ekpoki. “This match has helped my team to push up above where we were before. We know we have made some errors, which we will definitely try to adjust.”
Week four matches will see Oyah Sports International FC host Sokoto United of Sokoto, while City FC of Abuja will host EFCC FC.
