Ekiti United Football Club on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti beat visiting Dynamite Force 2-1 in their last match in the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference Group B1.

Reacting to the team’s victory shortly after full-time, host coach Samson Omiponle stated, “We are happy that this game ended in our favour, and we hope that with this victory, we will secure a place in the NNL Super 8.”
There was wild jubilation by the fans of Ekiti United immediately referee Onwe Sebastian ended the match. Their joy resulted from news of their team’s qualification after Osun United’s 2-1 victory over Go Round FC of Omoku in Osogbo.
While Ekiti United ended with 33 points to finish second behind group winners Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, Go Round FC could only place third with 31 points.
Ekiti United thus joined Shooting Stars in qualifying for the Super 8, where they would battle for qualification into the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
