Nigeria qualify for 4x400m mixed relay, set continental record at U-20 World Athletics

Team Nigeria on Wednesday qualified for the final of the 4 x 400 metres mixed relay event at the ongoing World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Nairobi.
The quartet of Johnson Nnamani, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Deborah Oke and Bamidele Ajayi won heat two in a time of three minutes 21.66 seconds.
The result which gave them the best qualifying time in the event’s two first-round (semi-final) heats also earned them the honour of setting a continental record.
The final is scheduled for later on Wednesday where Nigeria will contend with the likes of India (continental record at 3:23.36) and the Czech Republic (season-best at 3:24.15).
The other qualifiers are Jamaica (season-best at 3:24.65), Poland (season-best at 3:24.69), Sri Lanka (personal best at 3:26.62), Italy (season-best at 3:28.00) and South Africa (season-best at 3:30.43).
