Lagos to close Iyana-Era road for one year to build bridge

The Lagos government says traffic will be diverted at Iyana-Era road to rehabilitate and construct a 20-metre bridge from September 24 for one year.
Lagos transport ministry said in a statement that the construction would commence Friday at midnight.
Frederic Oladeinde, Commissioner for Transportation, explained that the construction was to address factors responsible for the rapid and frequent deterioration of the section of the road.
Mr Oladeinde added that the portions before and after the culverts submerged into the surrounding swamp, requiring the need for a bridge.
The commissioner further stated that motorists heading towards Shibiri, Ajangbadi, and Igbogbo axis would be diverted at the Era-Adaloko roundabout into a contraflow on the Badagry bound lane to minimise the inconveniences during the repairs.
Mr Oladeinde further stated that LASTMA would be on the ground to direct traffic in addition to traffic guides for vehicular movement during the stipulated period.
While seeking residents’ cooperation for the successful commencement and completion of the project, the state government reiterated its continuous commitment towards the development of transport infrastructure across the metropolis.
