Kaduna boy kidnapped two years ago, others, rescued in Zamfara forest: Police

Three kidnapped victims have been rescued from the Mashayar Zaki forest, Dansadau district of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara, police authorities said on Wednesday.
One of the victims, a boy, was abducted two years ago from his village in Kaduna State.
Spokesman for the police in Zamfara Muhammad Shehu disclosed this via a statement in Gusau.
Mr Shehu said the victims were rescued by the tactical squad of the Command on Tuesday.
He added that all the three rescued victims were from Kaduna State.
“On 8th March 2022, Police Tactical operatives deployed along Dansadau axis, while on rigorous Anti-Banditry Patrol successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, including a female and an underaged boy, who are natives of Kaduna State.
“Two of the victims were abducted from Tumburku in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State on Feb. 20, 2022.
“While the underaged victim was abducted from his village in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State about two years ago.
“And since then, he was subjected to rearing animals for the bandits, before he was successfully rescued by the police,” Mr Shehu said.
He said the victims had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment before being debriefed by police detectives.
The Zamfara Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah, assured members of the public that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, would continue to work assiduously to ensure sustainable peace and security in the state.
