Soldiers detain Burkina Faso President Roch Kabore in apparent coup

Mutinying soldiers have detained Burkina Faso President Roch Kabore.
“Burkina Faso President Roch Kabore has been detained at a military camp by mutinying soldiers, two security sources and a West African diplomat said on Monday, following heavy gunfire around his residence on Sunday night in the capital Ouagadougou,” Reuters reported on Monday morning.
This came hours after Mr Kabore’s government denied a coup report in the country.
Protesters had set the ruling party’s headquarters on fire over Mr Kabore’s failure to quell violence by Islamist militants connected to al-Qaeda, prompting the government imposing a curfew in the country.
