Chelsea beat Palmeiras to win Club World Cup

The game ended 2-1 as Palmeiras defender Luan was shown the red card in added time.

Chelsea for the first time on Saturday won the Club World Cup after beating Brazilian club Palmeiras in the extra-time.

The game played at Abu Dhabi ended 2-1 in favour of Chelsea as Palmeiras defender Luan Garcia was shown the red card in added time.

The first half of the fiercely competitive game ended with both teams not being able to find back of the net.

Romelu Lukaku opened scoring for the Blues few minutes into the second half, giving Chelsea the lead with a header. 

From the spot, Raphael Veiga, however, equalised for Palmeiras in the 64th minute, extending the game into extra time as both teams struggled to outdo each other. 

Chelsea grabbed a crucial win as Kai Havertz scored from the spot in 117th-minute. 

With Saturday’s win, the Blues have won all trophies since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club.
