Islamic scholar Ahmad ‘BUK’ Bamba dies in Kano

Renowned Kano-based Islamic scholar, Ahmad Bamba, has died on Friday.
One of his sons, Abdullahi Ahmad, disclosed this when he spoke with journalists on Friday in Kano.He said that the scholar, popularly called Ahmad BUK, died at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr Bamba was a native of Ghana who came to Nigeria after studying in Saudi Arabia to teach at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
He specialised in the teachings and interpretations of the Hadith, the traditions of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.
Mr Bamba gave weekly lectures on the Hadith at the BUK mosque for years, before he moved to his own mosque called Darul Hadith in Kano.
