Ibadan teachers, parents beaten up at PTA meeting by thugs hired by student

The Oyo government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, for hiring thugs to beat up parents and teachers during a PTA meeting.
The Commissioner for Education, Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Mr Abdu-Raheem said the girl in the company of her mother recently invaded the school with thugs, assaulting a male student, teachers and other parents during a PTA meeting.
“The mayhem was said to be ignited by the girl’s mother and other accomplices, thereby causing tension in the school. The state government is taking further action to serve as a deterrent to other unguided parents and wards,” said the commissioner.
Mr Abdu-Raheem appealed for caution, pointing out that the Oyo government has zero-tolerance for impunity.
The commissioner also charged students, parents and other stakeholders to take advantage of Governor Seyi Makinde’s free qualitative education programmes rather than disrupt the state’s peace.
