Hoodlums steal air conditioners, banners, flags, other campaign materials belonging to Atiku, PDP

Suspected vandals allegedly attacked the Gombe state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and campaign office of the party’s former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Gombe.
Briefing journalists, the national coordinator, North-East Business Communities, Atiku for President 2023, Aliyu Adamu, described the Tuesday incident as unfortunate.
Mr Adamu said that a security man in the office called around 2:00 a.m. to inform him that some hoodlums invaded the office and began to vandalise the property.
“They destroyed our banners, flags and the windows and carted away all the air conditioners,” he said.
According to him, the group is not suspecting anyone but we call on the state government and security agencies to ensure that those involved are brought to book.
Mr Adamu said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ishola Babaita, had been informed.
The hoodlums also torched a section of the PDP secretariat.
In a reaction, the state PDP Chairman, Abnon Kwashebe, alleged that the attack was politically motivated, decried political violence in the state and asked party members to remain calm.
He said that the police commissioner had visited the secretariat and assured them that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ngorjin, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said that investigation into the two incidents had commenced.
