The federal government has concluded arrangements to conduct the 2021 promotion examinations for eligible candidates in the directorate grades of the federal civil service.

Alaba Balogun, spokesman for the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) announced this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Mr Balogun, the exam is scheduled for March 21 to 28 at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Kubwa-Abuja.

“To this end, the FCSC in its circular of February 10 to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government reeled out explicit and comprehensive guidance/schedule on the year 2021 promotion examinations. The examinations are for eligible directorate level officers in the federal civil service.

“The commission in its determined efforts to ensure smooth and seamless transition between accreditation and examinations has categorised eligible candidates from across the MDAs into different specified date.

“The dates are within the stipulated period of February 21 to March 4 for physical accreditation,” Mr Balogun explained.

He said in full realisation of the importance of inclusive participation, the commission had deliberately introduced the online accreditation for eligible pool officers in seven pilot MDAs.

They MDAs are Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Others are Federal Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

He added that the commission’s main objective of additional online accreditation was to make it easier for directorate level officers nationwide and abroad to participate in the exercise.

According to him, the examination will centre on knowledge of civil service, professional competence and general knowledge.

The FCSC, an extra-ministerial body under the Presidency, is statutorily mandated to conduct promotion evaluation/interview for officers in the federal civil service.
