Ex-APC senator Shehu Sani joins PDP

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna State senator, on Thursday, joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Sani joined the PDP at a meeting with party executives in Kaduna.
Prior to his defection, reports had said he was holding consultation with the major opposition party, with a view to joining them.
Although, he is yet to make a formal announcement, Suleiman Ahmed, an aide to the former senator, confirmed his defection, stating that an official ceremony is scheduled to hold in two weeks time.
“Yes, Distinguished Senator Shehu Sani has finally settled to join the PDP but official ceremony and reception will be in the next two weeks all things being equal,” Daily Trust quoted Mr Ahmed as saying.
The development comes barely two months after he tendered his resignation from the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in a letter dated July 9 and directed to the party chairman in ward six, Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
Mr Sani joined PRP days after he left the All Progressives Congress (APC), a platform through which he contested and won the Kaduna Central Senatorial District on March 28, 2015.
His move follows the ongoing wave of realignment by politicians in readiness for the 2023 general elections.
Another notable politician, Femi Fani-Kayode, had also made a reverse defection from PDP to APC on Thursday after months of speculation and denial.
Mr Fani-Kayode, who has been a vehement critic of the Buhari regime, said he was divinely directed to join the ruling party.
