Engineer in court for stealing 244 cell phones

An engineer, Jeffrey Aiguwurhuo, was on Wednesday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing 244 cell phones worth N22,597 million.
Mr Aiguwurhuo is charged with two counts of a felony to wit theft.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between June and December 2021.
Mr Nomayo said that the defendant stole the cell phones belonging to Xiaomi H K Limited.
He told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 280 and is punishable under Section 287(9), of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.
The Magistrate, O. O. Fajana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that one of the sureties must be a relation of the defendant.
Mrs Fajana adjourned the case until April 4.
