At least 25 people were arrested and paraded by the Lagos Police Command on Saturday for gathering over the remembrance of victims of Lekki massacre.

Peoples Gazette learnt that some protesters were arrested and taken to Panti police station for organising a walk in Lagos metropolis in acknowledgement of the 120 days remembrance for the victims that died at the tollgate during the #ENDSARS protest that happened on October 20, 2020.

Some of the arrested persons identified by our source include Victor Oniru, Tunde Abass and Molade Alagba.

A week ago, Peoples Gazette reported that 40 #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters, including popular entertainer, Debo Macaroni, were arrested and detained at the Panti Police Station for agitating that the Lekki toll gate should not be reopened.

The protesters were molested in police custody, drawing wide condemnation of the police. The protesters were later arraigned and freed on bail by the court.

Kunle Ajayi, a source who spoke to People’s Gazette said, “they organized a walk because of the 120 days remembrance of the Lekki massacre, 25 people were picked and taken to Panti police station, the lawyers in charge of the case are on ground to secure their bail.”

Lagos police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for comments as he refused to pick calls nor reply to text messages.
