El-Rufai govt demolishes buildings in low-cost estate

Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s government has demolished buildings in Barnawa low-cost estate.
Specifically, the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) said it demolished nine structures for violating Urban Planning Laws.
This is contained in a statement by the KASUPDA spokesperson Nuhu Garba.
The authority said the demolition followed the expiration of notices issued to the affected owners of the structures.
”The demolition in Barnawa low-cost was due to a change in title and road encroachment,” the statement explained. ”The structure located at plot No. 44, Uganda Street Barnawa, low-cost was removed due to lack of approval and change in title.”
KASUPDA also disclosed that the government removed the dilapidated and abandoned structures due to security threats on Uganda Street, Barnawa.
The authority stressed the need for residents to cooperate with Mr El-Rufai’s ‘Urban Renewal Initiative’.
On August 1, the Kaduna government granted additional five days for the owners of the properties to comply with its earlier directive.
The government stressed that some buildings were unstable, uninhabitable, dilapidated, and abandoned.
