Edouard Mendy emerges first African to win FIFA best goalkeeper award

Senegalese and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on Monday won the FIFA best goalkeeper award for 2021.
The apex football organisation announced Mendy as the winner on Monday via its Twitter handle.
“The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2021 Award goes to Edouard Mendy! The greatest men’s goalkeeper in the world,” FIFA said.
Mendy, 29, becomes the first-ever African goalkeeper to win the much coveted award.
He had won the champions league with Chelsea in the season under review, putting up fantastic performances throughout the campaign for the Blues.
