Crypto: Etoro places restrictions on Cardano, Tron trading

Etoro, an Israel-based cryptocurrency trading platform, has placed trading limitations on assets Cardano and Tron in the United States.
“eToro will be limiting ADA and TRX for users in the U.S. These U.S. users will no longer be able to open new positions in or receive staking rewards for Cardano (ADA) and TRON (TRX). You will still be able to close existing positions as you see fit,” the trading platform said.
The limitations mean that users will not be able to open positions for these cryptocurrencies starting December 26 and will not be able to stake these assets anymore starting from December 21.
Cardano was launched in 2017 and is a third-generation blockchain after Bitcoin and Ethereum (first and second generations), respectively.
It also touts itself as the only extensively peer-reviewed blockchain platform in the industry and routinely publishes academic research papers on its website.
Etoro explained in the blog post that these new measures were a consequence of “business-related considerations in the evolving regulatory environment.”
This month, U.S. President Joe Biden’s economic advisors urged Congress to introduce regulatory oversight and a formal market structure for cryptocurrencies as soon as possible.
