Court issues arrest warrant for ex-lawmaker Chuma Nzeribe

The FCT High Court has issued a warrant of arrest for a former House of Representatives member, Chuma Nzeribe for disobeying the court’s order.
On Monday, the judge, Halilu Yusuf, charged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies to arrest Mr Nzeribe and present him before the court to face the criminal charges against him.
Mr Yusuf referred to a provision of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, mandating security operatives across the country to arrest the former federal lawmaker anywhere he is found and bring him to the court.
The federal government had sued Mr Nzeribe for impersonation and cheating.
Peoples Gazette reported that the judgment was initially set for March 11 by Mr Yusuf, but Mr Nzeribe was absent in court.
Mr Nzeribe’s lawyer, Charles Ndukwe, told the judge that the former legislator was suffering from chronic hypertension.
Mr Nzeribe, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra, was accused of impersonating a Nigerian woman, Ramatu Alhassan.
It was stated that Mr Nzeribe used a land document in the name of Ms Alhassan to commit “advanced fee fraud.”
