Grammy-award winning Burna Boy has yet again made history, as the first African artiste to hit 200 million streams on Boomplay.

Boomplay, a music streaming platform, announced this on Tuesday, with pictures of the musician presented a plaque by Tosin Sorinola, Boomplay’s director of artist and media relations displayed on its site.

The plaque was given in recognition of his contribution to the music industry.

“This is another iconic feat for Burna Boy, Boomplay and the entire African music industry. This achievement shows that fans in Africa are fast catching up to the digitisation of music and streaming, which Boomplay is championing,“ said Sorinola.

Burna, who previously made history on the streaming platform less than a year ago as the first African artiste to hit the 100 million streams milestone, currently has 10 million streams on his ‘Outside’ album, 43 million streams on his critically-acclaimed and Grammy-nominated album ‘African Giant’ and 80 million streams on his ‘Twice As Tall’ album on Boomplay.

Boomplay streams are calculated based on industry-recognised standards in which only a no less than thirty-second stream is equal to one stream count.
