Buhari should dissociate himself from Boko Haram, killer herdsmen: Bishop Wale Oke

Bishop Wale Oke, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to dissociate himself from terrorists and killer herdsmen ravaging the country.
“Our president should use the opportunity to disassociate his government from the lawlessness currently ravaging the country through the activities of Boko Haram insurgents and the killer Fulani herdsmen,” said the PFN leader.
He also advised Mr Buhari to engage them as a kinsman, apprehend, prosecute and jail those guilty of any crimes.
“He should tell his kinsmen, the Fulani, to stop the mindless killings currently (going) on in the country, arrest and make those culpable to face the wrath of the law.”
The Punch reported that Mr Oke made the statements in Ibadan while receiving state leaders on Wednesday.
The cleric, who recently became the president of the PFN, described the president’s silence as disturbing. He said his silence would give other Nigerians the impression that Mr Buhari supports killer herdsmen and bandits, destroying lives and property.
He noted that Mr Buhari was voted into power in 2015 because of his military background, believing that the president would stem the country’s insecurity.
He urged the federal government not to negotiate with bandits.
According to him, Mr Buhari’s regime should spend its time and resources on ensuring people’s safety and security.
