Apple trails HP, Dell as third most popular U.S. laptop brand

HP and Dell trail higher than Apple as the most popular laptop brands in the United States, according to Finbold.
The U.K.-based analytics firm noted in a report that while Apple sets itself apart from other brands on account of functionality, HP continues to trump it on account of a wider market reach.
“Apple is the third most owned laptop brand at a household level with a market share of 24 per cent as of October 2021,” Finbold said, adding that “the brand trails HP, with the highest share at 35 per cent, while Dell ranks second at 27 per cent.”
The report notes that the laptop market in the U.S. is influenced by factors such as user experience to price, stating that with Apple products, users are able to start operating their devices as soon as they are purchased.
Finbold places this, as well as remarkable customer service, as contributing factors to the tech giants products gaining on the market
“However, Apple’s market share has grown over the past decade due to consumer PCs’ improved availability.
“Apple is considered to have the best customer service of any laptop brand, and their laptops typically give a great user experience.
“The user experience has remained Apple’s main selling point, with other competitors attempting to replicate it,” Finbold said.
Other laptop brands were included in the report, such as Acer with a market share of 13 per cent trailing in fourth place after Apple, and Lenovo coming in fifth place at 12 per cent.
Other popular brands like Asus and Microsoft shared 8 per cent of the market and Samsung recording just 7 per cent of the U.S. market.
