Anambra: Truck kills Okada rider

A truck has killed an Okada (commercial motorcycle) rider on Igbo Ukwu-Uga road in Aguata local government area of Anambra.
Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander in Anambra, confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday.
Mr Irelewuyi said the crash at about 5:10 p.m. was caused by the speeding truck, which lost control.
“The crash involved an unidentified driver of a red Mack Tipper with registration Number: JJ496QF and an unidentified rider of a Lifan motorcycle with no registration number,” stated the FRSC commander. “Witness report indicates that the driver of the tipper was on top speed; he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the oncoming motorcycle in a single carriageway and crashed.”
He disclosed that three male adults were involved in the crash. They were taken to Apex Hospital, Ngo in Igbo Ukwu, where a doctor confirmed the Okada rider dead.
“His corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue,” added Mr Irelewuyi.
The sector commander condoled with the deceased’s family and warned motorists to desist from speeding and maintain a safe speed limit.
