President Muhammadu Buhari has warned APC stakeholders against bungling Saturday’s national convention, saying it may jeopardise the ruling party’s chances in next year’s general elections.

On his Facebook page, Buhari urged his party to ensure a hitch-free convention capable of fostering unity in the party.

“The national convention of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is holding on March 26, 2022. We cannot afford to do anything that will jeopardise the chances of the party in the 2023 general elections,” stated Mr Buhari. “The limited time frame of the INEC timetable does not permit us any room for delay or further squabbling.”

He called on APC members to “conduct the upcoming convention in a manner that not only fortifies the unity of our party but also improves the prospects of our electoral fortunes” in the 2023 elections.

Mr Buhari added, “We should all do our part to ensure the success of this convention. This will fortify us for the campaigns ahead of us.”
