1,234 applications received for Davido’s N250 million orphanage donation

Davido has revealed that 1,234 applications has so far been received for his N250 million cash donation which is to be given to orphanages in Nigeria
The “Jowo” crooner took to his Instagram story to give “transparent updates” regarding the disbursement of the donation as he had initially promised.
“1234 responded,” he said, noting, however, that about 852 are without orphanage names, leaving just 382 listed orphanages with names.
The named applicants are currently being verified by a list submitted by The National Association of Orphanage Home, Davido disclosed.
“The National Association of Orphanage Homes in Nigeria sent the list of orphanages within their coverage, which to some extent is helping us in the verification process,” he said.
On November 17, Davido generated over N200 million from fans and friends after “jokingly” posting his bank details online and requesting funds towards his birthday.
The artist generously added N50 million to the massive cash gift and donated a total sum of N250 million to orphanage homes in Nigeria.
On November 20, Davido set up a committee to oversee the disbursement of the funds and promised the public “transparency” throughout the entire process.
He further informed the public saying “Verification is ongoing, and report will be out by 15th Dec. Selection and disbursement 18th/19th and press release should be Dec 20th”.
